Put a little love in your heart with a Schisandra Rose Latte! Do you feel like being loving is your innate way of being or is it something you need to work on. From a Bhakti-yoga perspective, our true nature is to love. We have just forgotten and need reminders until we can fully embrace our relationship with our Divine Beloved.
On the way, what are some things that can be supportive on the path.
Having gratitude is for everything and helping others with no expectation of return is wonderful.
A way to encourage our bodies to be more loving is to support with food. In the winter and colder months, warmth is a great way to get our bodies to relax and feel nurtured.
Warm beverages are a perfect way to soothe our stomachs and minds.
puppy love
At the beginning of the year, I adopted a 9 week old Shiba Inu puppy! Those of you who have ventured on a journey with a soul in a baby dog body know how trying the early months are.
I would say it’s more difficult than a baby because you can’t nurse a dog and generally babies don’t bite. Babies also don’t need to go outside to be walked.
Anyway, while I love my little doggie bundle I needed a way to support by nervous system after days of less than optimal sleep, playtime and training. I will never claim to be a dog expert, especially with a stubborn but deathly cute dog like my Shiba Inu, Mikan. Mikan is the name of a small orange that is a national treasure of Japan. Food is something I know!

My Zulay whisk does a great job and I also use it when I make other kinds of lattes. Easy to clean and looks great on the counter with all of our hot beverage implements. Peony flowers or rose petals make a beautiful garnish. Sprinkle on liberally!
Ingredients Spotlight
Schisandra – Also known in Chinese traditional medicine as Wu Wei Zi (fruit of 5 tastes) is a small berry on a magnolia vine. It has been used traditionally to aid in liver function, digestive health, skin and for stress. This berry is a known adaptogen and great for women in balancing hormonal issues. Schisandra really does have 5 flavors and adds a floral, peppery and sour note. Doesn’t it sound like a cool girlfriend who has your back! Try this adaptogenic elixir from Anima Mundi –Schisandra Rose
Rose – The queen of flowers. She is a heart opener and is delicious in almost any sweet preparation. Rose is a natural anti-inflammatory It gives a lovely pink color. Look for organic rose powder! I love the kind from Anima Mundi! Organic Rose Powder
Hemp Milk – Hemp milk gives a great source of plant-based protein and omega fatty acids. Unlike oatmilk which is very high in sugars and processed oils, hemp milk is a delicious alternative to dairy. Almond milk would also be a good alternative. Pacific Hemp Milk
Raw Honey – A natural sweetener with added benefits if it includes propolis etc. Some vegans may still partake of honey.
MonkFruit -If you are looking for a non-sugar alternative that is natural, I like 100% Monk Fruit drops. There are lots of sugar alternatives with monk fruit but most are erythritol (sugar alcohol). Look for 100% Monk Fruit, like these Monk Drops!
Peony Flowers – These are called the King of Flowers. The massive blooms have symbolized romance, wealth, luck and honor for centuries. They have inspired beautiful art and a prized flower in a garden. They are also have culinary uses, especially the beauty and color they bring to dishes and beverages.
Suncore Foods has whole peony buds and it’s so fun to watch them bloom as tea! Their rose buds are beautiful too. Suncore Rose Buds
